The Brat Pack

Since you met the fur-cousins yesterday, I thought I would take a minute today to “formally” introduce you to the Brat Pack! Just a little fun for Saturday. Proper portraiture need not apply today. LOL

On any given day, this is likely how you would find my couch:

Needless to say, keeping the dogs off the couch is neither desired or attempted here. They pretty much rule the roost. Rescue fur-babies have a way of twisting you around their little paws. LOL

How I Practice Pet Photography…

If you know me, you know I have The Brat Pack living in my house – and they are very familiar with my camera and their craziness makes regular appearances on my Instagram. But, I also babysit my fur-niece and fur-nephew from time to time. And, they are not as resigned to being impromptu supermodels as my own pack.

Ozark and Sadie spent the night the other night and I don’t think there are two more difficult dogs to get to pose. LOL

Shona Skye Goes to the Dogs! (Facts & A Tutorial!)

If you know me or have noticed the plethora of pictures and links scattered around the side columns of my blog, you know I'm a big advocate for animal welfare and promoting adoption and rescue over shopping the pet stores that are frequently stocked by puppy mills. I want to share some facts today that are very near and dear to my heart, plus share a DIY tutorial for dog toys that my daughter's Girl Scout troop made to donate to Open Door Animal Sanctuary, our local no-kill animal shelter that the troop volunteers for during the Season of Giving. And these four are a few of the reasons why this issue is so near and dear to my heart:

Pinterest Inspired Pet Bed!!

Making our home friendly for The Girl Child's Teacup Yorkie, Abbey, has been one of the main focuses we've had since we got her. She's so little and what's accessible to our other three dogs is just too big for her! After finishing the Pet Steps, we were on a hunt for a bed for the little stinker that would, again, go with my daughter's Steampunk-themed room. And, having no luck.

From Throwaway Plant Stand to Posh Pet Steps!

Hi there!

I'm going to start this blog off with a small job I did over the holidays. This is going to be a simple project, but an example of finding a way to fill a need in a hurry. And, believe me, this qualifies as a refurbishing project if anything ever has!

A little backstory: my daughter got a Teacup Yorkie as a early Christmas present. Her original owner needed to find a new home for her and my daughter had wanted for a pet of her own for a long time (as if the three dogs we had weren't enough!) So, this tiny little precious bundle of fur joined our family!
