Tallying Up The Weekend Haul - Goodwill Hunting

Hey, there! Hope everyone had a great weekend! Here, the weather is definitely cooler and it's moving into Fall. We had highs in the 70s and I'm LOVING it!!! October is my FAVORITE month with my FAVORITE holiday!

I didn't get to do my Goodwill runs this weekend, which is kind of bugging me. I have this little voice in the back of my head, whispering that the most awesome thingy ever was snapped up by someone else. LOL But it's OK. It's not like I came home empty handed!

We started the weekend on Saturday at the St. Louis Scottish Games, which in our family is a most important event, since The Hubster was born in Glasgow, Scotland. We had so much fun with our younger son, daughter, and my darling Scottish mother-in-law and The Hubster got to rock his new kilt! I got to sample some of the most awesome shortbread I've ever tasted, one regular and one chocolate! I could have just stayed at that booth all day and been quite happy, except I'm sure the nice lady would have been more than a bit peeved at me for taking all her shortbread. But, I'm telling you, I was tempted!

Sunday was the StrangeFolk Festival and it is now firmly ensconsed at one of my favorite festivals ever!

It was jammed packed with vendors selling some of the coolest stuff ever! I may have pigged out on shortbread at the Scottish Games, but I scored some awesome finds at StrangeFolk!

That little business card case was only $10 and it just could NOT be any cuter! I had to have it. LOL Honestly, I could have bought everything in that lady's booth. Her merchandise was just stunning!

My daughter scored that awesome vintage trench coat with the leather detailing for $30! She was beyond excited, as she's been wanting one forever and not finding anything in her price range.

Please excuse my miserable excuse for self-portraiture, but I spend most of last year looking for a hat like the one I found at StrangeFolk. It is hand-knitted and unbelievably soft. I love the size of it! It's bigger and so funky! I can't wait for the cold weather to wear it!

And, finally, that messenger bag! It's a second and I snatched it up for $20. The young man who makes them brought all his stock and anything that wasn't perfect, he slashed the prices on. I still can't find what's wrong with it! The design is perfect, the hardware is sturdy, there are no rips or tears - I just loved that bag as soon as I saw it and it even fits my laptop!

And so, to make up for my lack of Goodwill Hunting, I did some scavenging this morning, with the help of some excellent friends. My one friend called to let me know this great chair was sitting on the side of the road with a FREE sign on it:

Again, nothing wrong it! Very sturdy, cushion is in great shape. Just needs some TLC and updating, maybe a funky makeover, and it will find a good home! I have the BEST friends ever, who understand my addiction to junk! LOL
Then, lastly, my best friend decided to get rid of this very cool vintage serving cart that she had been using in her laundry room! I LOVE this piece and I have a ton of ideas for it! In fact, I can completely see me keeping this one, once I've restored it! These are the pieces I just live for!

So, I've got a few more projects on my list, but I'll be sharing my Master Bedroom Makeover progress this week! Let's just say, I'm MUCH happier trying to find something that fits now!

Kristy, that chair would look awesome with the burlap that has the french words on it...saw it JoAnn's this weekend and thought of you. It was $9.99 a yard.. since when did burlap get so expensive???

Great minds think alike, Terri! I've been hunting for coffee bean sacks to recover the cushion with! Burlap by the yard has shot up and I want the authenticity of the sacks, with their printing and all.
